Penang govt told to explain status of undersea tunnel project development

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Gerakan today asked the DAP-led state government to explain to the people the development of the undersea tunnel project that links Persiaran Gurney on the island to Bagan Ajam in Seberang Perai.

Its Community Education and Knowledge Bureau chief Dr Kiew Hen Chong said this was in line with the petition signed by more than 1,000 residents who wanted to know the latest developments in the project.

“The people of Penang have voted for DAP, so the state government needs to give an explanation to the people on this issue including whether the state government is involved in the corruption issue which is being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission,“ he told reporters here.

Earlier, Dr Kiew handed over the petition to Chief Minister’s Office Information officer Zahar Zainul. — Bernama
