Perak focuses on hybrid, digital platforms to celebrate National Day - EXCO

IPOH: The Perak state-level virtual National Day celebrations will be enlivened via hybrid and digital platforms to further strengthen the patriotic spirit, despite the Covid-19 pandemic threat.

State Youth, Sports, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman, Khairul Shahril Mohamed (pix), said that the main objective of the event this time is to ensure the people’s participation.

“This year’s National Day celebrations are different, as the Perak government and the state Information Department will implement them via hybrid and digital platforms, by combining these two, depending on the current situation.

“I urge all communities in Perak to participate and ensure the success of the event to be launched by Menteri Besar, Datuk Saarani Mohamad, using the Facebook platform on Aug 11 at 12.30 pm,” he said on the ‘Cer Citer YB’ programme on Radio PerakFM this morning.

Khairul Shahril said that other than intensifying the flying of the Jalur Gemilang at residential premises, government and private premises as well as shop buildings, the communities could also use a new initiative by placing the Jalur Gemilang or the Malaysia Prihatin (Malaysia Cares) logo as a background to their pictures on social media sites.

“This is among the efforts to ensure that the patriotic spirit continues to flourish in the communities despite not being able to celebrate National Day physically due to the pandemic,” he said.

Commenting on the National Day slogan, Malaysia Prihatin, Khairul Shahril said it showed concern not only on the part of the government, but also the people, in combating Covid-19.

“It means a lot that Malaysians today, together with the government and non-government organisations (NGO), are united in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In addition, the government’s concerns, through the initiatives provided, which were truly substantial, encompassed various aspects including the economy and people’s welfare.

In the meantime, Khairul Shahril, who is also Bota assemblyman, also urged the public to participate in various interesting competitions which have been lined up in conjunction with National Month 2021.

He said that for those interested, related information can be obtained on the Perak Information Facebook page. — Bernama
