PUTRAJAYA: A photographer with Putrajaya Corporation was robbed of his mobile phone by a man believed to be a foreigner at Putrajaya Sentral, Precinct 7 here, early yesterday.

District police chief ACP Rosly Hassan said Mohammad Faris Mohd Noor Azmi, 30, was waiting for his uncle at the lobby when the incident happened.

“He arrived at Putrajaya Sentral at 12.30am by ERL from KL Sentral to participate in a running event at Setia Alam with his uncle who stays at Precinct 9.

“While waiting for his uncle at the lobby of Putrajaya Sentral, the victim sat in the waiting room and charged his mobile phone. He said he chatted with a foreigner at 2.30am before the man left the area.”

Rosly said a man masked with a piece of cloth approached the victim not long after and struck the back of his right shoulder with a machete. Terrified, the victim ran out and managed to seek help from a taxi driver and a Putrajaya Sentral worker.

He said the victim suffered minor injuries on his right shoulder and lost his Huawei P30 Pro handphone and charger, which was then connected to the socket in the waiting room.

“The victim believes the suspect is the same man who had been talking with him earlier as their shirts were similar,“ said Rosly.

Police are relying on two closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) located in the area for their investigation under Section 394 of the Penal Code, and tracking down the suspect. — Bernama
