PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Paragliding Association (PLUM) will hold a coaching course in a bid to produce more qualified trainers in the country.

PLUM president Capt (Rtd) Ikhwan Azillah said the Level 1 course, which would adopt the international teaching syllabus and recognised by the National Sports Council (NSC), would be held at the Sabah Sports Complex in Ranau from Nov 30 to Dec 3.

“The paragliding coaching course, a joint effort by PLUM, the National Coaching Academy (AKK) and NSC, will be held for the first time for those interested in pursuing a career as a coach in sports paragliding,“ he told Bernama here today.

Ikhwan said those interested to become a qualified paragliding pilot must have the Level 1 to 3 AKK certificates.

“Only those who attend PLUM-organised courses and hold the Level 1 to 3 AKK certificates qualify to be accredited as a national paragliding coach and be recognised by the NSC,“ he said.

He added that the course for all levels of paragliding would be held at Bukit Lohan in Ranau and the course fee was RM450 per person.
