KUALA LUMPUR: A man accused of assaulting his ex-wife and father-in-law, with the alleged crime captured in a video that went viral on social media on Sunday, was arrested on yesterday and released on bail, on the same day.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Shafa’aton Abu Bakar told Bernama today that the 34-year-old suspect was released on health grounds after he furnished a medical reference letter.
The man had gone to the police station earlier to give a statement.
Shafa’aton said a police report on the incident was lodged by the ex-wife on Sept 4, while investigations under section 324 of the Penal Code were underway.
The 90-second video depicts a man assaulting a woman and elderly man, and also includes photos of head injuries sustained by the two victims. — Bernama
