Police rescue woman abducted by boyfriend

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have rescued a woman who was abducted by her boyfriend after she did not want to live with him in Johor.

Based on intelligence and public information, a team from Kajang police headquarters raided the house of the 43-year-old suspect in Taman Serom 6, Tangkak Johor yesterday and succeeded in freeing the victim.

Kajang police chief, ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the victim was found safe and well but said she was beaten by the suspect several times in their journey to the south.

“The suspect did not have any criminal record and initiative investigations found the suspect wanted the victim who is his girlfriend to return to him in Johor but the victim refused.

“The 31-year-old woman was abducted by her boyfriend in Sungai Chua, Kajang in a car last Friday and the incident at about 12.30 pm was witnessed by the victim’s father,” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Dzaffir said the father panicked when he received a call from his daughter but believed the phone was seized and turned off by the suspect.

He added police also found the suspect was believed to be the victim’s employer who wanted her to return working in Muar, Johor but the victim turned down his offer and claimed she had not been paid.

Ahmad Dzaffir said according to victim’s father, her daughter was with the suspect for almost a year in a vegetable farm.

“The suspect is now remanded until Wednesday and the case is classified under Section 363 of the Penal Code,” he said. — Bernama
