KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu Marine Police Force (PPM) has found a body of a man without identification in Pulau Mengalum waters, yesterday morning.

Sabah PPM (Region 4) commander ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said a team of PPM Kota Kinabalu officers were rushed to the scene by RH52 patrol boat to track down the dead body after receiving a report from auxiliary police at the ERB West (Petronas) Oil Rig near the island.

“An almost decayed body of the man, wearing a yellow t-shirt was found around 11am. The location of the body found was about 30 nautical miles from Kota Kinabalu.

“The identity of the remains is unknown. The body was taken to the Kota Kinabalu PPM old jetty base and was received by Investigating Officer from the Pulau Gaya Police Station before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further action,“ he said in a statement today.

In the meantime, Mohamad Pajeri urged the locals to report to the authorities in the event of missing any family members. — Bernama
