Prove cure for coronavirus with evidence: MMA

PETALING JAYA: Any person claiming to have been “cured” of the Wuhan 2019 novel coronavirus through unconventional means must have their methods of healing backed up by sufficient, substantial evidence that is acknowledged and approved by health authorities, said the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).

Its president Dr N. Ganabaskaran said claims of a “cure” for the 2019-nCoV without proper evidence is irresponsible.

He was responding to news published in a local daily, of a man in Jiangxi who claimed to have been rid of the virus since getting infected early in January. The article stated that he consumed 25 litres of water every day while he was quarantined for six days and six nights.

“Consumption of excessive amounts of water can be hazardous to a person’s health,“ Ganabaskaran said.

“Water may be a source of life in many instances but we also need to use and consume it wisely.”
