KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas AAM Cub Prix Championship promoter, Safe Aim Mutual Sdn Bhd (SAM) has given its assurance to give full cooperation to the relevant authorities to investigate the death of cub prix rider, Mohd Hafiz Nor Azman during round 10 of the championship in Johor, yesterday.

SAM director, Ron Hogg said the company had submitted all necessary details, materials and reports pertaining to the incident to the relevant authorities, namely the Malaysian motorsports sanctioning body, Automotive Association of Malaysia (AAM) and also the local police force.

“Safe Aim Mutual Sdn Bhd, as the race promoters of the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship, together with the organizers the Penang Motor Sports Club, welcome the AAM inquiry to investigate and analyse the matter when all the reports are completed. Both parties will also extend our fullest cooperation in this matter,“ Ron was quoted as saying in the statement issued by SAM, today.

Ron also thanked several parties which offered various assistance in the wake of the incident.

Meanwhile, Petronas in a separate statement issued today said they were deeply saddened with the passing of the late Mohd Hafiz Nor Azman who represented Petronas Sprinta Yamaha CKJ in the tragic incident.

“Petronas extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Mohd Hafiz. Our prayers and thoughts are with them during this difficult time,“ the national oil company added.

Mohd Hafiz, 22, passed away on Sunday after being involved in an accident the final lap of the CP150 category race which took place at Dataran Bandar Penawar in Kota Tinggi, Johor. — Bernama
