KUALA LUMPUR: SCGM Bhd’s (SCGM) wholly-owned subsidiary, Lee Soon Seng Plastic Industries Sdn Bhd (LSSPI) has halted its production operations on Jan 16 and 17, 2021 after two of its workers were tested positive for Covid-19.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the thermo-vacuum form plastic packaging manufacturer said a mass screening exercise had been carried out on all LSSPI employees, while hostel accommodations of Covid-19-positive workers have been segregated to mitigate the potential spread of the pandemic.

Besides enforcing mandatory quarantine measures, the company had undertaken a deep cleaning exercise to sanitise all premises.

“LSSPI has also activated its secondary protocol, the SCGM Bhd Business Continuity Plan-Secondary Protocol Policy, by enabling support functions to work off-site to ensure continuity in its business operations

“We are engaging closely with the Health Ministry on the subsequent steps to be taken and will provide further updates upon advice,” it said.

SCGM said LSSPI would resume operations today at a reduced capacity of 50 per cent, comprising automated machines as labour intensive operations remain halted pending further instructions. — Bernama
