KOTA KINABALU, Jan 18: The Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) provide 24-hour technical teams to rectify any disruption to electricity supply and also despatch mobile generator-sets to flood-hit areas whenever needed.

SESB senior general manager (Asset Management), Norhizami Abu Hasan said the utility will also temporarily shutdown power supply in flood-hit locations to avoid short-circuits.

“People whose homes are flooded are urged to immediately evacuate, switch off the main switchboard in the house and store electrical equipment at an elevated position.

“SESB with the cooperation of other agencies will find a way to come to the power-cut areas to check on its electrical installations,” he said in a statement here today.

Norhizami said power supply will be restored when floods recede to a safe level and the electrical installations are in a good and safe condition before using them.

He also advised the public to be always careful when using electrical equipment which have been submerged in floodwaters and also not to touch electrical appliances or switches with wet or moist hands

Customers who are experiencing power cuts during the flood season can contact SESB at 15454, 088-5150000, 019 8525427 (WhatsApps) or Facebook SESB Careline for assistance.- Bernama
