JOHOR BARU: Umno Johor Baru has urged all Umno MPs and state assemblymen who quit the party last week to quit their posts in order to pave the way for by-elections.

“If you can’t be an opposition MP or state assemblyman, just quit your post,“ division chief Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said at a press conference at JB Umno office, here this morning.

“They should know that the good old days have gone. They were so comfortable while in government in the past. Just admit that they can’t do a good job if they are in opposition, and let others do it.”

Among the MPs he urged to step down is Mersing MP, Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad, who quit Umno last Friday.

Shahrir said political struggles should not be limited to securing positions.
