MALACCA: Six individuals including a mother of three were arrested for drug-related offences after they were stopped at a roadblock mounted by the Malacca Road Transport Department (RTD) at Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz, Kota Laksamana here, last night.

Malacca RTD director Muhammad Firdaus Shariff said those detained were aged 23 to 43, with four of them tested positive for methamphetamine, one tested positive for cannabis and another one tested positive for heroin.

“One of the men detained was a businessman and driving without valid licence as well as suspected of possessing drugs. All detained will be handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further action,” he told reporters after the operation last night.

Earlier, the integrated operation which started at about 8.30pm to 12 midnight involved a total of 103 personnel and officers from various departments and agencies.

He said a total of 528 vehicles were inspected and tinted glasses-related offences recorded the highest number with 103 compounds issued, followed by driving without valid licence at 32.

Other offences committed including driving without valid road tax, registration number-related offences and using HID lights, he said. — Bernama
