KUALA LUMPUR: The Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award Gala Dinner has raised RM1.5 million in funds so far from sponsorships and donations from table sales, corporate sponsorships and exclusive auction items.

Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) trustee, Datuk Lai Voon Hon said the body aimed to raise RM2 million to finance its HIV and AIDS awareness, prevention and treatment programmes.

“We would like to thank AirAsia, Ancom Berhad, Berjaya Corporation, MonSpace (M) Sdn Bhd and Ranhill Holdings Berhad (Ranhill) for their support as presenting sponsors,“ he told the press at the ‘MAF Enlists Presenting and Signature Sponsors and Official Partner for the Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award 2018’ event, here, today.

Also present were AirAsia chief executive officer, Riad Asmat and Ranhill Group corporate communications general manager, Jamaluddin Jamil.

The Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award Gala Dinner will be held at Hilton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on Dec 16 and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be the guest of honour at the dinner.

“With Tun’s support, we hope that HIV will remain a public health priority in the country and that our government will continue to support AIDS awareness programmes,“ Lai said.

The MAF’s Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award is to recognise the excellent and outstanding work of organisations and individuals to end AIDS as a pandemic.

Lai said the award event was last held in 2012.

The award winners will receive a trophy, a cash prize of RM10,000 and a certificate. — Bernama
