KUALA LUMPUR: Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is collaborating with Unilever Malaysia and PINTAR Foundation in the Kembali Teguh programme to help equip students from B40 families with necessities for the coming school season.

Tesco said it would provide back-to-school kits for students, while Unilever would be contributing RM100 Tesco vouchers and hand sanitiser for each student from its Donate to Help fund which took place in Tesco stores from Nov 19 to Dec 2, 2020.

“For every purchase of above RM35 of combined Unilever products in a single receipt, RM1 was channelled to the fund and is now being sourced as vouchers to the students,“ it said in a statement today.

In addition, PINTAR will provide Covid-19 kits consisting of a face mask, hand sanitiser, wet tissue and hand soap to the students to ensure they stay safe and healthy while at school.

Tesco corporate services director Azliza Azmel said the collaboration was to ensure that the children were not only physically well-equipped for the new school year but also mentally prepared by teaching them the necessary skills to stay motivated in school.

“We have collaborated with both Unilever and PINTAR separately in the past with great results. However, we believe that by harnessing each of our strengths collectively now, we would be able to produce an even greater impact for the children who need it the most,” she said.

Meanwhile, Unilever customer development director Jay Go said the collaboration with Tesco for the Unilever Donate to Help Fund had raised RM100,000 for underprivileged students in Tesco’s network of adopted schools across Malaysia. — Bernama
