Three brothers among seven ‘Aliff Butal Gang’ members arrested

JERTIH: Three brothers were among seven members of the ‘Aliff Butal Gang’ who have been arrested for a spate of housebreakings and motorcycle thefts in Besut district.

Besut district police chief Supt Abdul Rozak Mohammad said the three siblings, aged between 17 and 23, were arrested in a raid in Kampung Pachakan Cherang Ruku, Pasir Puteh last Thursday (Feb 13) as part of the “Ops Pintu Lejang”.

The other four suspects, aged between 17 and 25, were arrested in separate raids around Besut and Pasir Puteh, Kelantan between Feb 13 and 15.

“Police have solved eight cases of house break-ins and motorcycle thefts in the area following the arrests.

“The suspects had been active since early this year, targeting unoccupied luxury homes,“ he told a news conference at the Besut district police headquarters here today.

According to Abdul Rozak, all the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police have also recovered cash and valuables worth RM70,000, including jewellery, watches, mobile phones, laptops, cameras and designer bags.

All the suspects have been remanded for investigation. - Bernama
