Three men held for suspected robbery, snatch theft

KUALA LUMPUR: Three men suspected of a robbery and snatch theft case, involving a woman at Dataran Mentari Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya in mid-July, were arrested at two separate locations in Ampang on Tuesday and yesterday morning.

Petaling Jaya District Police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said two of the suspects, aged 26 and 28, were arrested while they were in a Perodua Kancil car in front of a premises at Jalan Indah 23, Taman Cheras Indah, Ampang at about 11.30pm on Tuesday.

“Upon inspection, police found a mobile phone belonging to the victim on one of the suspects, who claimed to have bought it at a premises in Kampung Ampang Indah Mulia Jaya, Ampang, Selangor.

“Following the arrest, police then raided a premises in Kampung Ampang Indah Mulia Jaya, Ampang, at 1.05am (yesterday) and arrested a 25-year-old man,“ he said in a statement yesterday.

As a result of the arrests, police also seized the Perodua Kancil, a Yamaha LC135 motorcycle, a long-sleeved jacket, a helmet and three mobile phones.

He said the suspects have been remanded for two days and were being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code.

“Investigations are still ongoing to see if they were involved in other robbery cases, especially within the administration of the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters,” he said. — Bernama
