Two nabbed for extortion

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested two suspects here yesterday for alleged extortion.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal, in a statement today, said the arrests were made after police received a report from a 22-year old female victim on Aug 9.

“The victim reported that she had received a Whatsapp message from a woman demanding a payment of RM10,000 in exchange for not leaking a nude video of her.

“The victim admitted that she previously had posed nude in a video call to a woman through an instant messaging application named ‘TAM TAM’,” Nik Ezanee said without detailing the dates.

He said the alleged culprits, comprising a 27-year-old male and a 30-year-old female were arrested on Aug 14 in the Dang Wangi area. They are now being investigated at the Petaling Jaya district police station.
