GEORGE TOWN: An unemployed man pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court today for causing hurt to a food delivery man with a hammer.

Muhammad Aslam Hashim, 31, was charged with causing hurt by hitting the head of Koay Eng Tat, 40, with a hammer at Block P, Desa Permai Indah, Jalan Helang, Sungai Dua, Gelugor here, at about 4 pm on April 20.

The charge was framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of 10 years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments.

Magistrate Jamaliah Abd Manap allowed bail at RM4,000 with one surety and fixed May 25 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Yazid Mustaqim Roslam prosecuted while Muhammad Aslam was unrepresented. — Bernama
