Unemployed man claims trial to robbing Form Five student

KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man was charged with robbery at the sessions court here today for stealing a Form Five student’s smartphone and wallet, last week.

The accused, K. Mugeswaran, 19, pleaded not guilty after the charge against him was read before Judge Mahyon Talib.

The man allegedly robbed a smartphone and wallet belonging to R. Kanesh, 17, at Jalan Jelawat 1, Bandar Tasik Permaisuri, Cheras, here at 2am on Aug 15.

Mugeswaran was charged under Section 392 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of 14 years and fine or whipping, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurliyana Mohd Jafri appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.

The court fixed Sept 8 for mention. — Bernama
