ALOR STAR: An auditorium and two classrooms at SMK St Michael here were involved in a fire incident today.
Kedah Fire and Rescue Department fire and rescue operations assistant director Senior Fire Superintendent I Mohamadul Ehsan Mohd Zain said the department received an emergency call at 12.14pm and firemen arrived seven minutes later.
“The fire involved parts of the ceiling and roof, burned between 15% and 20%. The ceiling of the building was covered with fibre sheets, causing heavy smoke,” he said, adding that there were no casualties in the incident.
According to Mohamadul Ehsan, the fire occurred in a block that was undergoing renovation, and the cause of the incident was still being investigated. — Bernama
