KUALA LUMPUR: A waiter was charged in the Sessions Court here today with voluntarily causing grievous hurt on his girlfriend with a hammer last month.
Mohd Izham Hiffnie Mahadir, 38, however, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Judge Mahyon Talib.
He was charged with committing the offence on Norzalizawati Md Nor, 41, at a shop house in Taman Desa here at about 8pm last March 3.
The charge, under Section 326 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to 20 years and is liable to fine or whipping, if found guilty.
The court did not allow him bail and set May 31 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurliyana Mohd Jafri prosecuted, while Mohd Izham Hiffnie was unrepresented.
