MAGGI launches Sajian Seimbang Tanda Sayang to promote eating a balanced meal and to encourage mothers to get creative with ingredients for the noodle soup

IN recent years, Malaysians have become more conscious about living a healthier lifestyle and eating a nutritious meal.

On July 13, MAGGI launched the Sajian Seimbang Tanda Sayang (A balanced bowl is a serving of love), campaign to advocate balanced eating among Malaysians.

Most importantly, the campaign encourages mothers’ culinary inventiveness when it comes to preparing healthier and balanced meals with their popular noodles.

The campaign is inspired by the Malaysian Healthy Plate (MHP) guide provided by the Ministry of Health, which is based on the Suku, Suku Separuh (Quarter Quarter Half) concept.

The ministry promotes eating a balanced meal; a quarter plate of carbohydrates like noodles, bread, and cereal; a quarter plate of protein like eggs, tofu, meat, and seafood; and a half plate of vegetables and fruits.

The campaign encourages mothers to create an affordable, nutritious, and delicious home-cooked meal with 2-minute noodles by adding protein and vegetables to achieve a balanced meal.

Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad’s business executive officer of MAGGI, B. Geetha Balakrishnan said the campaign was first introduced in 2019, but this time they have added a new aspect of celebrating mothers’ culinary inventiveness through a series of initiatives.

Geetha said the campaign will integrate three core components, goodness of the noodles ( as a source of carbohydrates), fresh ingredients) and added with mother’s love.

She said: “From a humble bowl of noodles filled with gratitude for the things that we have to the moments created around a bowl of MAGGI, it’s mum’s creativity that makes all the difference!”

“This is truly in line with MAGGI’s brand promise of helping Malaysians to Cook the Difference, empowering them to cook balanced homemade meals for their loved ones.”

To inspire the mothers, Maggie created five different types of personality bowls with their four flavoured noodles, like chicken, curry, Tom Yam, and Asam Laksa.

The Busy Parent uses curry-flavoured noodles and is inspired by “Mi Ladna” with easily available topping ingredients such as Kailan, carrot, cabbage, egg, and shredded chicken.

The Fussy Eater with chicken-flavoured noodles with a combination of vegetables chopped into small cute shapes, perfect for the little ones. Then easy-to-chew ingredients like handmade chicken meatballs with mushrooms and toppings like spinach, carrot, and corn.

The Golden Age is inspired by the “Kerabu” dish with Tom-Yam uses aromatic herbs while the ingredients are sliced thinly for easy consumption for the elderly and can be served as an appetiser.

Goodness Green Bowl is a light bowl with chicken-flavored noodles, utilising umami flavours from fresh ingredients such as mushrooms and seaweed, and paired with a colourful array of vegetables.

Zero Waste Hero is a bowl of Asam-Laksa flavoured noodles using fried ikan kembung with a refreshing twist with pineapple, cucumber, onion, and herbs (mint, bunga kantan, and daun kesum) and calamansi for topping.

At the launch, a cooking demo session titled “Walking A Whole Balanced Bowl” was held by TV celebrity, entrepreneur and food enthusiast, Sheila Rusly at Maggi’s Masak Masak Kitchen, where, Sheila cooked her own version of the mouth-watering “Mee Soto Lambung”.

Speaking about her favourite bowl of MAGGI noodles, Sheila said she visited Jakarta where she found the original Mee Soto Lambung and, thus, she was inspired to create her own creative version.

“The key to a delicious, balanced meal lies in utilising simple ingredients and adding your own special touch to adapt it to your family’s preference, all coming together with love, care, and warmth,“ said Sheila.

At the launch, media members were also given a chance to show off their own cooking skills.
