The streets of Putrajaya saw 6,000 runners participating in the Allianz Pacer Run recently. The excitement was taken up a notch this year as the 12KM and 6KM Fun Run race distances were increased to 16KM and 8KM respectively. Additionally, the number of entries this year was also also increased by a thousand more participants.

“The whole idea behind the Allianz Pacer Run was to get Malaysians interested in running. As our major standalone running event, I am very proud to see how the run has continued to encourage Malaysians from all walks of life to get active and to start leading a healthier lifestyle” aid Allianz Malaysia BerhadCEO Zakri Khir.

“To us, it is not just about organising a quality run every year. It is equally important that we are able to inspire, challenge and allow Malaysians to come together on a nice Sunday morning and just have a ton of fun.”

Race festivities kicked off with a fun Zumba warm-up session followed by the 16KM race flag-off for the Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Veteran and Women’s Veteran categories t 6.30am, thereafter the 8KM Fun Run at 7am.

“This year, we wanted runners to push further. After three years, we thought this was the right time for the Allianz Pacer Run to present a new challenge to the runners and help them progress closer to the half marathon mark of 21 KM” Zakri informed.

Post run, participants were seen “cooling down” at the Allianz Runners Village where they engaged in fun games, an inflatable obstacle course and more. There were also interactive booths that were made to help raise awareness on health, healthy living and nutrition.
