Sports Toto to donate to old folks’ home this CNY

Unlike the previous Sports Toto’s Chinese New Year Ang Pow Donation Campaign where it was held in 50 towns and cities annually for the past 33 years, the company has decided to donate to old folks’ homes this year due to the worsening pandemic situation.

The 5-day donation campaign will kick-start on Jan 28, 2021 and targets to benefit a total of 118 old folks’ homes nationwide.

“While the country is still fighting the pandemic, we regret that we are unable to hold the donation campaign to benefit the general public like what we used to do in the previous years.

“Thus, the company has decided to only donate to the old folks’ homes to minimise the risk of exposing the senior citizens i.e. the high risk group to the pandemic and we hope to resume the traditional donation campaign in 2022 when it is all over,” said Sports Toto senior communications manager Giam Say Khoon.

Since the inception of this charitable campaign in 1988, Sports Toto has contributed over RM22 million worth of ang pows and hampers to more than 410,000 senior citizens in the country.

The donation campaign is part of the Helping Hands programme, a corporate social responsibility initiative by Sports Toto to share, give and care for the community.
