EXCEEDING the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination results of last year, the students of St. Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia (SJIIM) have set impressive scores once more.

37% of the grades achieved were graded at A*, 69% were graded at A* - A, 88% of the grades achieved were graded A* - B and an unbelievable 97% were graded at A* - C. The collective numbers proved significantly higher than the world IGCSE examinations result average in 2018.

The top scorers for SJIIM were Emily Ng Siew Zhang and Joey Chee, with both scoring an amazing 10A* respectively.

“My three years in SJIIM as a founding student has been a really great experience as I learnt so much academically and more importantly, developed and grew as a person, along with my classmates. The IGCSE was truly a rewarding experience for me,” said Ng.

“My time in SJIIM has been a wonderful experience with supportive teachers and a very strong sense of community. I am extremely grateful to have gone through my IGCSE in the conducive environment that SJIIM creates for its students,” said Chee, who will be furthering her studies in the United Kingdom.

The most popular international qualification for 14 to 16-year-olds globally, the Cambridge IGCSE is recognised by leading universities and employers, with the qualifications serving as an international passport for further progression and success.

“Our students have worked very hard to achieve these wonderful results and we are immensely proud of them. Our talented teaching staff dedicated their time and energy to support the students in their examination preparation,” said SJIIM High School principal Dr Nicola Brown.

SJIIM’s IGCSE coordinator Anton Bush also commended the students for their exceptional results.

“We are very proud of the achievements of this cohort of students. They have formed a very special team that embodies the values of our school. There were many superb individual results within the overall picture with 70% of students achieving at least five A*- A grades. These IGCSE results are the best that our school has achieved to date and I am sure that all of the students will go on to even greater success in the future."

SJIIM’s next academic year begins on Aug 26 with places still available for selected year groups.
