The World Congress on IT (WCIT) is the premier information technology event in the world and this year’s event successfully concluded on November 20th with excellent results. The innovative online 3D virtual pavilion proved to be the perfect platform to showcase Taiwan’s high-quality products and helped to massively increase the exposure of Taiwanese products in Malaysia.
One of the highlights of WCIT was the Global ICT Excellence Award which saw the Taiwanese government and manufacturers netting seven (7) awards. Many of the awards went to pandemic prevention products, including AEB (Acer e-Enabling Service Business Inc.) that received the top prize in “COVID-19 Best Industry Solutions” for its Taiwan Healthcare-Associated Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System (THAS).
The system was created to assist the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), which is touted as the best system in efforts against Covid-19. This has further secured Taiwan’s reputation for its successful fight against the pandemic.
Taiwan Excellence, organized by Bureau of Foreign Trade and implemented by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), is committed to elevating the global image of the Taiwanese manufacturing industry and to aid their expansion in the global market. Centered around the theme of “Smart Connectivity, Smart Living”.
Taiwan Excellence showcased products and solutions from 14 participating vendors, including Apacer, In Win, Transcend, Aver, PLANET, IEI X QNAP, WiseChip, TBS Group, Her Sheng Chang, G-Winner, Big Good Design, In-Trust, Mercuries, and Eleclean. Taiwan Pavilion combined 3D virtual modelling and 360-degree panoramic view to create a truly immersive experience for international buyers to explore the products and to connect to manufacturers directly to generate business opportunities.

Taiwan Excellence is the mark of quality for products that have passed the stringent selection process. Products are judged on their R&D, Design, Quality and Marketing amongst other important criteria. The strong track record of Taiwan Excellence has earned it the trust of the global community which helps winning products gain a foothold in the competitive international market.
This year’s exhibition focused on innovative smart living products and the most sought after products include Transcend’s shockproof and waterproof portable highspeed SSD solutions; Big Good Design Co, Ltd’s VAGO portable vacuum device; Planet Technology Corporation’s industrial grade integrated switch; and IEI X QNap’s network storage solutions and switches.
2020 marks the 24th instalment of the WCIT and the first time the event is hosted online in Malaysia. A total of 4,000 industry players, government delegates, academics, and international speakers from over 100 nations participated in this event.
