Burn Bible threat not seditious: AG

KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) will not prosecute Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali under the Sedition Act for a statement in which he called on Muslims to seize and burn copies of "Al-Kitab" (Bible) which contained the word "Allah".
This is because the statement does not fall within the definition of seditious tendency under the Sedition Act 1948, the AGC said in a statement here today.
The statement was issued in response to Ibrahim's statement at a press conference after the closing of the Perkasa convention at Penang Universiti Teknologi Mara in January 2013.
Ibrahim made the statement in regard to the distribution of copies of the Bible containing the word "Allah" to students, including Malays, at SMK Jelutong in Penang on Jan 17, 2013.
"He made the statement in the context of the incident at SMK Jelutong and when studied in its overall context, his statement does not have a seditious tendency," the statement said. – Bernama
