PETALING JAYA: In the run up to the retrenchment of at least 6,000 Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) employees in June, the Corporate Development Centre, established for exiting employees, officially opens its doors on June 1.
As of June 1, individuals can register for CDC's free services at the main facility located in the Malaysia Airlines Academy in Kelana Jaya, or at the partner facilities in Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
Set up by Khazanah Nasional Bhd as part of the 12-Point MAS recovery plan, CDC is expected to provide exiting employees with a broad range of services, including talent profiling, career counselling, basic and detailed training, job-seeking skills, entrepreneurship, retirement planning and placement.
CDC said in a statement last Friday that other facilities will be established at other key locations throughout the country as and when required. Individuals can register for CDC's services at all locations.
It has 60 trainers and counsellors nationwide.
According to MAS CEO and CEO-designate of the new airline Malaysia Airlines Bhd Christoph Mueller, "We are committed to providing as much support as possible to help exiting employees transition from a career in MAS to mapping new career steps. We encourage them to take advantage of CDC's services which are dedicated to creating opportunities for them moving forward".
Individuals seeking a new job will be advised and guided by CDC's trained and experienced career counsellors on opportunities based on their preferences, previous job experience and skills. CDC's placement professionals will then seek prospective employers that have job opportunities matching their talents. Areas of personal development and interests will also be taken into account in planning for their future career.
For individuals seeking to upskill, CDC currently offers over 400 programmes, courses or classes that are relevant to the market across many industries, with more to come.
Individuals will have access to a wide variety of choices, including Business, Communications, Entrepreneurship, Engineering, Marketing, Information Technology (IT), and more.
Training modules include providing essential skills and knowledge such as Business Plan Writing, Financial Management, Computer Literacy, Communications Skills, CV Writing and Personal Grooming.
