Penang Future Foundation scholarships available

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Future Foundation (PFF) Scholarship 2018 is entering its fourth year and it will be opened for applications from June 1 to 21 this year, with the aim of helping outstanding and deserving Malaysian youths to pursue tertiary studies in public or private universities in Malaysia.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said that the state started PFF in 2015 with valuable contribution from the private sector and donors, especially Penang Turf Club who recognises the importance of education and the need to retain local talents.
He said that the scholarship funds intends to help the state government in achieving their objective of building human talent.
"We want to realise the potential expressed in the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) documentary describing Penang as Asia's next Silicon Valley. PFF has awarded approximately 300 scholarships over the last three years and selected scholars come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and they are enrolled in fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, accountancy and finance," he said in a statement.
He added that prospective students may apply to be either a "PFF Penang Scholar" or "PFF Mutiara Scholar" based on their eligibility for each category.
"PFF Penang Scholar" caters for those with CGPA of 3.67 and above whereas "PFF Mutiara Scholar" is available for applicants whose CGPA is between 3.00 and 3.66.
