Celebrate Ghostbusters 37th anniversary and Ghostbusters Day in style

Happy Ghostbusters Day! If you aren’t sure what this day actually means, you’re not alone. In a Ghostbusters Day video with producer Ivan Reitman, Bill Murray appears not to know what is Ghostbusters Day either.

According to Slashfilm, Ghostbusters Day first started in 2016 to coincide with Paul Feig’s female-driven Ghostbusters movie which has been officially titled Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. While the film didn’t get a positive reception from manbabies, the franchise is picking up again with another Ghostbusters film.

The new film Ghostbusters: Afterlife leans heavily into the nostalgia of the original movie that we all love. The release of the film is also significant because Ghostbusters recently celebrated its 37th anniversary of the original movie.

So when is Ghostbusters Day actually? Since ghosts never rest, it’s only right to celebrate ghostbusting every day.

“I think every day is a ghostbusting day, but the fact that there’s a designated one now means maybe we’ll get a lot more busting done,” said Bill Murray. “I think if we can all apply ourselves and focus, be a little more diligent, [we can] get rid of some of these ghosts.”

The anniversary also comes with the release of new merchandise such as:

- New #PlasmaSeries Classic Figures that glow in the dark from Hasbro. Get the toys through the end of June HERE

- Hasbro Mini-Pufts toys with 3 alternate heads, which can be ordered online HERE

- T-shirts featuring designs from around the world by artists such as @VochelleYum, @JohnYurcaba, @StuartReeves, and @BrendanPearce.

Look out for Ghostbusters: Afterlife which is set to be released on November 11, 2021.
