ACER MALAYSIA recently announced four new additions to its enterprise portfolio at an event Kuala Lumpur. The devices showcased include an all-in-one, a mini PC, a laptop, and a convertible Chromebook.
“The commercial market accounts for more than 40% of our global revenue,” said Acer Sales & Services Sdn Bhd general Manager of products for sales and marketing, Chan Weng Han.
These add to Acer’s extensive range of devices catering to consumers ranging from gamers, everyday PC users, and enterprise clients.
The first product showcased was the Acer Veriton Z4660G. The company refers to the system as an all-in-one device, instead of a PC, to differentiate it from consumer products.
Available in two variants, the Acer Veriton Z4660G comes either with an Intel Core i3-8100 (RM2,899), or an Intel Core i5-8400 (RM3,199) processor.
Both systems come with 4GB of DDR4 PC2666 memory that is upgradeable to 32GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, and 1TB HDD for storage. Because it is an all-in-one, the device has a 21.5in 16:9 FHD display, stereo speakers, and an integrated pop-up webcam that can be rotated 180°. An Acer USB Keyboard and USB mouse is also included in the box.
Because the Acer Veriton Z4660G is aimed at the enterprise market, it also comes with a three-year on-site warranty, and all the connectivity options and security features an IT department would need.
Next up is the Acer Veriton N4660G, the enterprise mini-PC. Modular, expandable, can be mounted directly onto monitors, this PC also comes in two variants: the Intel Core i3-8100 (RM2,899) and the Intel Core i5-8500 (RM3,399).
The Acer Veriton N4660G also shares many similarities with the Acer Veriton Z4660G, such as warranty, graphics, memory, and storage.
However, according to Acer, the PC can be customised and upgraded to fit users’ requirements through the single PCIe x16 slot, its three M.2 slots, or additional modules.
For the professional on the go, Acer’s latest offering is the TravelMate X3310 (RM4,099). This laptop is built to last, and can withstand drops of up to 122cm. Additionally, it comes with a three-year onsite warranty and a one-year international travel warranty.
Inside is an Intel Core 15-8250U processor paired with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and 256GB of M.2 SATA SSD storage. Its display is a 13.3in FHD screen backed by an Intel UHD Graphics 620.
It also comes with all the bells and whistles in the form of security software and features one would expect from an enterprise level device. On top of that, the TravelMate X3310 has a plethora of connectivity options, from the latest USB Type-C port to a VGA port.
Finally, Acer showed off its latest and most powerful entry in its Chromebook series, the Acer Chromebook Spin 13.
Chan added: “In the Chromebook sector, Acer is leading the market with a wide range of designs and form factors to meet the expanding needs of our customers. The Chromebook Spin 13 is the world’s first Chromebook to run on an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250u processor.”
The Acer Chromebook Spin 13 as a 13.5in QHD display, 8GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and Intel UHD Graphics 620. It also has a one-year international travel warranty for parts and labour.
The device is called a Spin because it can be folded over into a tent or tablet mode. These modes are where the included Wacom stylus, which can be used to sketch and take notes, truly shine.
With a price tag of RM3,599, this convertible laptop looks to be overpowered for a Chromebook. That is because most Chromebooks are used in educational settings where students use nothing more than the essential productivity apps and web browser. Its strength lies in the cloud, not the raw power of the device.
However, with the Acer Chromebook Spin 13 would be right at home in environments such as shared workspaces. Imagine a co-working space where you do not even need to bring your device. Just pick up a Chromebook, log in, and it’s yours to use for the day.
