Hael Husaini’s recently released single Bujang is a sign of things to come

ONE of the stars within the Malaysian pop music industry, Hael Husaini Razmi, more popularly known as Hael Husaini, has been in the industry for almost two decades as a composer, songwriter and singer.

The 32-year-old’s career can be traced back to 14 years ago, when he auditioned for the reality show One In A Million.

Despite his busy schedule, Hael obliged theSun for an interview to talk about his latest single Bujang and his future plans that are in the pipeline.

“The song was inspired by my very own story and my friend’s experience,” he explained when queried on the song’s inception. “I’m still single (bujang) up to today, while most of my friends are married, or at least getting married soon.

“However that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy my life [as a single man]. It’s just that I am always hoping that someday my time will come.”

Besides being a single man, Hael is also a single father. In 2017, he surprised his fans when he announced that he had adopted a baby girl, whom he named Nur Helena.

Hael also shared his process for creating his music.

“When it comes to music, the melody always comes first,” he said. “When I have some melody in mind, I will hum [it aloud] and record it. The next step is finding the right producer to co-produce and make arrangements for the song. Only then will we figure out the suitable lyrics for that particular song.”

As a solo artiste with over 10 years experience in the Malaysian music industry, there is no denying that he has a strong work ethic.

Hael has spent a good portion of the past decade releasing non-stop hits and singles, and working with other heavy hitters in the industry such as Dayang Nurfaizah, Jaclyn Victor, Nabila Razali and Siti Nordiana, to name a few.

Hael believes that his career will continue to grow, as the relatively young singer continues to be led by his fervour for music, songwriting and all the intricacies of the artform.

“I am in the midst of completing the songs for my very first full-length album. We only need to finish about three more songs before we can finalise everything.

“If everything goes as planned, the album will be launched somewhere in December this year.

“However, we might have to reschedule the date depending on the current Covid-19 situation.”

He further explains that the virus has left a huge impact on his life and career.

He explained: “All my promo tours, shows and events were cancelled from March until June. I was affected financially, physically and emotionally during this hard time.

“I just hope that all of us can get through this together, and that things will get back to normal again. I really miss touring and meeting my fans. Nobody was prepared for this kind of a tragedy.

“During this period, I’ve spent most of my time with my daughter. She gave me strength, and kept me motivated to stay strong and focus on the future.

“Since public and outdoor events are pretty much prohibited, I will use this opportunity to make songs in the studio as much as I can. You just need to do something to distract yourself from this pandemic.”
