KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale was detected in the South Maluku Sea, Indonesia, at 1.08 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said in a statement that the earthquake was reported to have occurred 195 km south of Tomohan, Indonesia, at a depth of 58 km.
However, a preliminary assessment showed that the earthquake did not cause a tsunami threat to Malaysia. - Bernama
