Browns place rookie LT Wills on reserve/COVID-19 list
The Cleveland Browns placed rookie left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday.
The 2020 first-round draft pick (10th overall) from Alabama has started all 14 games and played 97.6 percent of the team's offensive snaps this season.
The Browns (10-4) are scheduled to play the New York Jets (1-13) on Sunday afternoon in East Rutherford, N.J.
Local media reported Wills was identified as a close contact of someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and could play against the Jets if he continues to test negative. Veteran tackle Kendall Lamm could make the start if Wills is unavailable.
Wills, 21, hosted a charity event called Jedrick's Winter Blast this week. "(He) surprised a woman with a new car, paid the rent for a year for a family that lost its home in a house fire, and spread $50,000 worth of toys, gifts and cash to five Cleveland-area families," according to ESPN.
"Life changing experience!" Wills posted on Twitter on Thursday. "Can't wait for next year."
Cleveland also placed wide receiver Ryan Switzer on the practice squad/COVID-19 list.
Switzer, 26, joined the practice squad in October and has not appeared in a game this season.
The reserve lists are for players who either test positive for the virus or who have come in close contact with an infected person.
