Browns rookie LT Wills (illness) out vs. Jets

28 Dec 2020 / 00:37 H.

Cleveland Browns starting rookie left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. was downgraded to out for Sunday's game versus the New York Jets.

Wills, who will miss the game due to an illness, was activated from the reserve/COVID list on Saturday. He was placed on the list as a close contact of a person outside the organization that tested positive.

Wills flew separately from the remainder of the team on Saturday night as a precaution, according to Cleveland.com.

The 2020 first-round draft pick (10th overall) out of Alabama has started all 14 games and played 97.6 percent of the team's offensive snaps this season.

Kendall Lamm is expected to start in place of Wills, who becomes the seventh Browns player ruled out for this game because of either illness or COVID-19 protocols. He joins wide receivers Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, rookie Donovan Peoples-Jones and KhaDarel Hodge as well as linebackers B.J. Goodson and Jacob Phillips.

Goodson tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, while the others were deemed high-risk contacts.
