Former All-Pro Haynesworth arrested on domestic assault charge

Former All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is out on bond Tuesday after being arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and domestic assault.

Haynesworth, 39, was arrested Monday in Cleveland, Tenn., accused of threatening and yelling at his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. His ex, Brittany Jackson, told police Haynesworth drove two hours from his home in Franklin, Tenn., after threatening her over the phone.

Neither Jackson nor her boyfriend were harmed, said Sgt. Evie West of the Cleveland Police Department, adding that Haynesworth violated the law because the two had reason to believe he would cause bodily injury.

Haynesworth and Jackson have a child together. He played football at Tennessee, where she played basketball for the Lady Vols.

Haynesworth was a two-time All-Pro and Pro Bowl defensive tackle for the Tennessee Titans, who selected him in the first round (15th overall) of the 2002 draft.

He played in 123 games (92 starts) for the Titans (2002-08), Washington Redskins (2009-10), New England Patriots (2011) and Tampa Bay Bucaneers (2011). He finished with 30.5 sacks. In March 2009, he signed a then-record seven-year, $100 million deal with the Redskins.

Haynesworth announced in 2019 that he needed a kidney transplant after battling kidney disease for years. Haynesworth, who has been receiving dialysis, has yet to receive a transplant.
