LONDON, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Britain's finance minister Rishi Sunak began announcing new measures on Thursday to support the economy through the COVID-19 crisis, saying the main aim was to protect jobs.

Sunak told parliament he would not continue with the furlough scheme introduced at the start of the crisis six months ago, that it was necessary to make changes to the support on offer and that Britain had to face up to trade-offs and hard choices.
