New Era, Bills to end stadium naming rights deal

16 Jul 2020 / 06:22 H.

The New Era Cap Company requested a release from its contract as the naming rights sponsor to the Buffalo Bills' home stadium, the sides announced Wednesday, with both parties negotiating the details of the separation.

In August of 2016, New Era and the Bills entered into a seven-year naming rights agreement through 2022, with the total value reportedly around $35-40 million. The stadium was named New Era Field shortly after the deal was announced.

The Bills said Wednesday they are pursuing a new naming rights partner.

The venue in Orchard Park, N.Y., was previously known as Rich Stadium and most recently Ralph Wilson Stadium -- in honor of the team's founder -- before switching to New Era Field. It's unclear what the stadium will now be called.
