Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was declared inactive Sunday with a knee injury and P.J. Walker will make his first NFL start against the Lions in Detroit.

Bridgewater was hurt in the fourth quarter of last weekend's 46-23 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was limited in practice all week.

Bridgewater, 28, has passed for 2,552 yards with 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions for the 3-7 Panthers this season.

Walker, 25, has completed 3 of 8 passes for 15 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in two appearances this season. He played for Panthers coach Matt Rhule at Temple and spent time on the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad before leading the XFL in passing yards and touchdowns with the Houston Roughnecks earlier this year.

The Panthers also will be without All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey (shoulder).
