Reports: Ryan Zimmerman agrees to one-year deal with Nationals

    The Washington Nationals and first baseman Ryan Zimmerman agreed to a one-year, $1 million deal, according to multiple reports on Friday.

    The 36-year-old Zimmerman opted not to play in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

    Zimmerman has spent all 15 of his major league seasons with the Nationals. He has a .279 average with 270 homers and 1,015 RBIs in 1,689 career games.

    Zimmerman batted .257 with six homers and 27 RBIs in 52 games in 2019, the season the Nationals defeated the Houston Astros in the World Series. Zimmerman batted .208 (5-for-24) with a homer and two RBIs in the World Series.

    Zimmerman established career highs of 36 homers and 108 RBIs in 2017.

    Zimmerman, a two-time All-Star, was the fourth overall selection of the 2005 draft.
