Soccer-Wind powers Denmark to 2-0 victory over Israel

March 25 (Reuters) - Striker Jonas Wind created a goal for Martin Braithwaite and scored another himself to get Denmark off to a good start in their World Cup qualifying campaign as they cruised to a 2-0 win away to Israel in Group F on Thursday.

Braithwaite fluffed his lines in a one-on-one with keeper Ofir Marciano in the 10th minute but he made no mistake three minutes later, collecting a pass from Wind and lobbing Marciano to put the Danes ahead.

Anchored by Andreas Christensen and Simon Kjaer, the Danish defence kept the Israelis under control, conceding little in the way of goal-scoring chances to the home side.

Wind got his name on the scoresheet in the second half, reacting quickest to a poor clearance from Hatem Abd Elhamed to fire home and double the lead.

Substitute Andreas Skov Olsen could have made it 3-0, but his stinging shot was turned away for a corner and Braithwaite also went close when his 83rd-minute shot cannoned off the crossbar.

"I'm obviously a happy man, we scored two goals and stood up well in defence so we got the three points and that's the most important thing," Wind told Danish TV.
