Spain ready to accept some conditions for EU recovery fund

08 Jul 2020 / 16:45 H.

MADRID, July 8 (Reuters) - The Spanish government is ready to accept that some conditions are attached to transfers from an EU recovery fund as long as that is part of the European semester, Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez Laya said on Wednesday, referring to the European Commission's annual recommendations to the bloc's 27 countries.

What is at stake during the July 17-18 summit over the creation of an EU coronavirus recovery fund worth about 750 billion euros is the future of all the EU member states, Gonzalez Laya said in a interview to news agency Europa Press.

She said the worst-hit countries should get more support from the fund. (Reporting by Inti Landauro)
