Thunder trade Oubre to Warriors for draft picks

23 Nov 2020 / 04:41 H.

Kelly Oubre Jr. has now officially been traded for the second time in a week as Oklahoma City dealt the dynamic forward to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday for a pair of 2021 draft picks.

The deal will send a protected 2021 first-round pick and a second-round pick in 2021 to OKC, the Thunder announced Sunday.

Reports of the trade surfaced after news that the Warriors lost All-Star Klay Thompson for the season.

Oubre, 24, who played the past two seasons with the Phoenix Suns, was traded to OKC on Nov. 16 in the megadeal that sent Chris Paul to Phoenix.

Oubre averaged a career-best 18.7 points per game last season for Phoenix. Oubre, the 15th overall pick in the 2015 draft, has averaged 10.9 points in 348 games (99 starts) for the Suns and Washington Wizards (2015-19).

The Warriors made the move after Thompson tore his right Achilles tendon during a pickup game on Wednesday. Thompson missed last year recovering from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, which he sustained in Golden State's loss to the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals.

The Warriors, plagued by injuries, finished 15-50 last year, the worst record in the NBA.
