PETALING JAYA: The iconic Coliseum Cinema along with the adjacent former Coliseum Café and hotel is currently for sale.

Knight Frank Malaysia has been exclusively appointed to market the disposal of the Coliseum Cinema, Coliseum Cafe and hotel, according to their Linkedin post posted three weeks ago.

“Built in 1920, the Art Deco-style cinema is the oldest and continuously running cinema hall in the country. If required, vacant possession can be provided to the new purchaser.

“Offers to purchase are invited for these two heritage properties either separately or together,” reads the post.

The Coliseum Cafe, one of the capital’s oldest and most iconic restaurants was forced to shut down in June 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic which took a toll on its business.

The hotel and cafe were built in 1921 and became a popular meeting place for colonials: rubber planters, tin miners and British government staff.
