KUANTAN: The Malaysia International Tourism Expo 2024 - Pahang (MIT Pahang) which is expected to attract 10,000 visitors is the best platform for industry players from home and abroad to highlight their tourism products.

Pahang Unity, Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Leong Yu Man said the tourism expo, which will last for three days starting Oct 8, among other things, can help promote Malaysia, especially Pahang, as a tourist destination.

He said the tourism industry is a major contributor to Pahang’s economy where last year more than 13 million tourists were recorded with an estimated expenditure of RM11.89 billion.

“We are targeting the participation of visitors including industry players from home and abroad to participate in this event at the Sultan Ahmad Shah International Convention Centre, Kuantan, and by organising this expo, Pahang can become a new meeting hub for industry players.

“Besides, this expo, which will be held for the first time, also provides a business to business (B2B) platform for tourism players in Southeast Asia and other countries to connect and foster cooperation with each other,“ he said at a press conference at the Tourism Pahang office here today. .

Throughout the international expo, Leong said industry players will have the opportunity to participate in seminars to discuss tourism issues by industry experts from various countries in addition to B2B sessions that facilitate networking and business interaction among buyers and sellers of tourism products.
