KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan Immigration Department arrested two Myanmar men suspected of being involved in a syndicate producing fake application slips for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards in Kampung Padang Kala, Melor, here early yesterday.

Kelantan Immigration Department deputy director (Control) Ruzaana Mohamed said immigration officers found a laptop computer, a safe, a printer, a laminating machine, printing inks of various colours, three closed-circuit television cameras, a data drive unit, and cash amounting to RM928 inside the suspects’ house during the Ops Sapu/Kutip.

She said the two suspects, in their twenties, were found to have used valid UNHCR cards and claimed ownership of all the confiscated equipment.

Immigration officers seized the suspects’ mobile phones containing copies of UNHCR slips believed to have been forged, as well as UNHCR card application slips used to obtain UNHCR cards unlawfully.

“The case is being investigated under Section 55 D and Section 6(1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” she said in a statement today.
