SHAH ALAM: Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar wants the state government to stop water rationing immediately or face protests and legal action.
"Following complaints from the people, the Selangor BN wants water rationing to be stopped immediately. If the problem is not resolved, a protest to demand the people's rights will be held on May 4," he when launching 'Ops Baldi' attended by over 100 people in front of the Selangor Umno building, here today.
'Ops Baldi' which symbolises public anger at the Selangor state government was attended by BN leaders, party members and Selangor non-governmental organisations (NGOs) who held placards and pails.
Noh said Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's statement that water rationing was not to burden the people was not clever as he failed to consider the implications.
Selangor BN will provide free legal service to individuals and companies who want to take legal action against the Selangor government for losses due to the water rationing.
He said the people of Selangor have the right to take legal action against the Selangor state government for negligence in managing water.
"We will help the people who suffered losses and it is up to the court to judge. Those interested can contact the Selangor Umno office." He added that water usage in Selangor increased by three percent per year but supply is inadequate.
"Selangor may have seven dams and 34 treatment plants but supply is still inadequate to meet its water needs."– Bernama
