PETALING JAYA: AirAsia X Bhd has completed the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and joined IATA's IOSA Registry on April 16, 2015.
IOSA is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to access the operational management and control systems of an airline. It is the benchmark for global safety management in airlines.
The audit covers eight functional and operational areas of AirAsia X namely, organisation and management system, flight operations, operational control and flight dispatch, aircraft engineering and maintenance, cabin operations, ground handling operations, cargo operations and security management.
AirAsia co-founder and group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said AirAsia X started working towards the IOSA audit process at the end of 2012 and it is the first airline in the group to be registered.
"The rest of the airlines across the group, namely AirAsia Malaysia, AirAsia Thailand, AirAsia Indonesia, AirAsia Philippines, AirAsia India, AirAsia X Thailand and AirAsia X Indonesia are also in the midst of the preparation process and we are committed to getting all of our airlines through the audit process," he said in a statement yesterday.
"This was an accomplishment made possible by the hard work and synergy of our Allstars from various departments who worked tirelessly for the past 14 months in preparing, reviewing and improving all of our operational processes and implementation. Not only has this allowed us to meet the required standards, it has also allowed us to further strengthen the safety and efficiency of the organisation," said AirAsia X acting CEO Benyamin Ismail.
