Bank Muamalat targets one million customers with debit card launch

    KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd is set to increase its customer base to one million in the next two years, from 500,000 active users currently, with the launch of its Islamic debit card called "Aisya" today.
    "All of our existing card holders will be converted with this (debit) card, while the new customers will be issued with this card if they have a current or saving accounts with the bank," its CEO Datuk Mohd Redza Shah Abdul Wahid told reporters after the launching ceremony here today.
    Mohd Redza said the card has Debit Mastercard and MyDebit features in it.
    He said besides the normal cash withdrawals at the ATM's (automated teller machines), customers can use the card to purchase at participating merchants and making online purchases within Malaysia as well as internationally.
